A history of character development. Part 3. Friends and foes

RU EN +

Long-awaited continuation of the article about modifications of our favorite characters!

This time we will trace the changes in Harry’s closest friends and foes.

Neville

Neville Longbottom

(From left to right: SS/PS – PA – OP – DH2)

A shy and insecure boy who was always forgetting things has grown into a real defender of Hogwarts!

Changed his school uniform for a fancy cardigan at the end.

Ginny

Ginny Weasley

(CS – OP – HP – DH2)

The quiet, humble girl who occasionally painted the castle walls with blood and had a heart-to-heart chat with a talking notebook, we meet again in the Order of the Phoenix, where she’s already recovered and visibly better-looking. However, in the next game the athletic figure and bulging eyes suggest that Ginny has discovered something amazing again 🙂 Anyway, in Deathly Hallows the developers tried to correct the situation: the eyes were masked with a thick layer of shadow and the figure was made more feminine, but overall, I think the image is still not successful.

Luna

Luna Lovegood

(OP – HP – DH)

We only see Polumna in the latest games, where the quality of the graphics is already pretty decent, so there’s not much to complain about. She has a detached stare into thin air, an idiosyncratic manner of speech and long blonde hair… One of the most successful characters in the game.

Fred and George

The Weasley twins

(SS/PS – CS – QWC – PA – OP)

The only thing that distinguished Fred and George Weasley from each other was the letter and colour of their jumper. And even then, only in the first two games. Here, the creators didn’t bother and drew one skin for two. In subsequent games, the brothers are exactly the same. In “Prisoner of Azkaban” got freckles, and in “The Order” they were made full copies of the actors. It’s entirely possible that they copied one of them and then just cloned them in the game.

Draco

Draco Malfoy

(SS/PS – CS – QWC – PA – OP – HP – DH1 – DH2)

The cheeky blond snob has been a nuisance to Harry and his friends since first year. In the first games, he threw stale (and therefore explosive) candy and smirked madly. But after the middle of the story, the sneering smile starts to fade from his lips, his hair colour dulls, and his clothes become increasingly sombre and stern. In the last game, where no more polygons and textures were spared on the characters, you can see the despair and anguish of conscience on Draco’s face.

Goyle

Gregory Goyle

(SS/PS – CS – PA – OP – HP – DH2)

Malfoy’s first bodyguard didn’t step much in his development (including morally): still the same school uniform, still the same short haircut and big forehead. In The Chamber of Secrets, like the rest of the characters, he learned to blink and open his mouth (though he generally has no reason to)

Crabbe

Vincent Crabbe

(SS/PS – CS – PA – OP – HP)

Malfoy’s second “servant”, Crabbe, unlike his dim-witted partner, changed his image twice: first in “Prisoner” he went blond, then in “The Order” he grew his hair. He has a distinctive masculine look to him, but has the distinctive masculine edge to him).

Filch

Argus Filch

(SS/PS – CS – OP)

The man with the brush, the lantern and the wild stare will give nightmares to kids long after the Philosopher’s Stone game. I still can’t forget the pirate translation of Filch’s sharp expression: ‘I’ll get you, you rotten little creature’. It was his way of speaking affectionately to Harry.)) In The Order, he’s made to look even more sinister, thankfully only appearing in a couple of episodes.
