Duel with the Half-blood Prince and the castle Gates. PlayStation 2 Phantoms

RU EN +

PlayStation 2

“The Half-Blood Prince” is the latest game in the Harry Potter series of games released on the PlayStation 2. We will find something in it that we will never see on a computer. It depends on you whether the duel with Professor Snape will finally open castle gates and whether the last icon will be found…

PlayStation 2 Memory

The PlayStation 2 console was released in 2000-2012 . It was the “golden decade” for the Harry Potter series of games, we can say that these games and this console were born and grew up at the same time.
7 Harry Potter games have been released on PlayStation 2. The first three differ significantly from their computer counterparts, in the future, the plot and gameplay on the computer and the console began to coincide.
There is a difference only in some moments, mini-games, etc. It is this difference that causes confusion among users – players begin to search on the computer for what is only on the console. What they’ve seen in trailers and can’t find at home. And vice versa, on the console they are looking for what they found on the computer. Among such “phantom” games is “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” for PlayStation 2.

The difference in the achievement system

“Collect badges – you will get rewards for them!” This summoning inscription accompanies us throughout the game.
Frankly, there are more awards on the PlayStation 2 than on the PC. The disadvantage of the computer version of the game – the lack of a reward for all the points collected – is more than made up for on the console.
For some bonuses that are both there and there, you need to find a different number of badges. For example, to get access to the brewing of a Love potion, it is enough to collect 98 icons on the console, and 113 are needed on the computer.

The secret of the badge in the transfiguration yard

The location of the badges on the console and the computer are the same, except for one icon. Moreover, the confusion with the last badge is no longer only between the PC and the console, but among the consoles themselves of different versions.
The badge in the transfiguration yard, which hangs on flags/carpets/banners and which needs to be shot down – it is on PC and PS3, Xbox 360 consoles.
And on the PlayStation 2 and Wii consoles, these carpets themselves are not there, there are bare ceilings in a long gallery, and the icon is lying around the corner on the floor.
What caused this difference is unknown. Perhaps the mistake was noticed at the last moment, there was no time to hang flags, and the developers simply threw the icon in the same location so that everything would come together.
The lack of flags on the ceilings has been misleading for more than one generation of players who have passed the “Half-Blood Prince” on the computer and believe that it is impossible to find all the badges on the PS2, because there is nowhere to shake off one of the icons in the right place.

Duel of two players

The game has its own multiplayer – A duel of two players. A second gamepad is required to start.
The whole achievement system for collecting badges on PlayStation 2 is aimed at discovering new locations and new characters for multiplayer.
Initially, only the Great Hall and Harry Potter’s duel with Ron Weasley are available, but very soon they are joined by Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood and the rest. You can pair characters for duels arbitrarily.
During duels, there is no first-person reversal for each player, the second selected character will always face the players.
All spells that need to be studied gradually in the plot part of the game are immediately available for use here.
No progress and further earning points in duels on multiplayer has been revealed.

Many have seen in advertising trailers, how Professor Snape fights in duels, and wondered where he came from there, because this is not in the game on the computer.
But it is possible to fight a duel with a half-blood Prince only on the console and only by collecting all 150 points.
Note: There is no computer-controlled Snape here. Snape is played by one of the two players on his gamepad.

Castle Gates

Many have seen the footage in trailer and an advertising photo with an open gate from the castle, from where Harry runs out, and wondered: how can they be opened in the game?
Most likely, nothing. The developers made these frames specifically for advertising purposes.

Nevertheless, the rumor persists in the network that the castle gates can be opened.
The fact is that there was another confusion with the name and a play on words: you can open not the gate itself, but the location “Castle Gate”. This is the last arena for a Duel between two players, and you can “open” it with a code.
Moreover, the battle takes place not BEHIND the gates, but in FRONT of them, in the area of the first gargoyle, the gates themselves are in the distance and remain closed.

Whether it is possible to unlock this location for duels in the game itself remains unknown.
