Surprise from the past: demo of the second game

Recently, we learned about the existence of a demo disc. It seems that the disc was released only in some countries and was available to customers of one company that produces its products with red labels.

What is interesting about this disc? The disk included the following:

1. A software shell resembling the Hogwarts lobby. It has a special door to open the Gryffindor quest.

2. Toy Gnome on the Desktop (languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese).

3. Skurge Challenge mini-game (languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese).

4. Demo version of the first game (languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian). This file has been added to the game page.

5. Screen saver (screen saver of the old type) (languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese). This is just a video announcement of the second game. A very strange decision to design it as a screen saver…

6. Video announcement of the second game (languages: English, French, German, Spanish).

7. Desktop Wallpaper (4 bmp files, 640×480).

As of 2020, most of the materials are already outdated, but have been successfully launched under Windows 10. In addition to showing video in the disk shell: the player used has not been used in Windows software for a long time.

It is also noticeable that the monitor settings have changed a lot: wallpapers and a mini-game are designed for a screen resolution of 640×480 pixels 🙂
The disk shell fills the entire screen, but only a screen area of 800×600 pixels is actively used.

It is also worth mentioning separately the “Gnome for the Desktop” program (this is not the Linux desktop environment, it is the gnome that walks around the screen. Some commands are also available for it).

What is the outcome? This disc answered several questions, showed us a mini-game and a funny program, which many did not even know about. Yes, these are just demos, but they still arouse community interest 🙂

Downloadable files are available on this page. Portable versions of the program with the gnome are made for visitors to our site 😉
